Background Story
Ziggy is a nickname, sometimes a diminutive of Polish names such as Zygmunt or Zbigniew. It may also be inspired by the English word zig, meaning "a sudden turn". The German form is Siggi, a nickname for names beginning with Sieg-, such as Sieglinde, Siegfried and Siegmund. David Bowie used the name for his alter ego Ziggy Stardust on the 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
