Vesper is the Latin cognate of Hesperos, and in Classical Latin it means evening. English borrowed the word from Latin vesper, the evening star, and also from German Vesper. Ian Fleming used Vesper as the name of a female character, a love interest of James Bond, in his novel Casino Royale (1953).
